I am working with an exciting sock business in Leicester, who are in the process of launching a new arm to their business- slippers, and this is where you will come in!
As a Business Development Manager, you will play an integral part in driving this new division for the business, where you will work with the designers to pull together new collections and then work with retailers and businesses to convert into orders.
Relationship building is paramount, so you must be a people person, as well as having the drive and tenacity to open new doors and eye up new opportunities in the market.
You will conducti market research, identify target clients, negotiate contracts, and collaborate with internal teams to expand the company's reach and revenue streams.
This person will ideally come from a slipper background, but this isn’t paramount.
Business Development Manager- The Role:
- Develop and execute business development strategies to achieve company growth goals and increase market share.
- Analyse industry trends, market conditions, and competitors to identify new business opportunities.
- Identify and target new clients, opportunities, and partnerships.
- Establish and nurture strong relationships with key stakeholders and clients, ensuring long-term partnerships.
- Present business solutions to potential clients, responding to their needs and concerns.
- Generate and qualify leads through networking, outreach, and research.
- Negotiate and close deals, managing the sales pipeline from lead generation to orders raised.
- Collaborate with the design team to drive opportunities from prospecting to closing.
- Conduct market research to identify potential clients and competitors.
- Provide reports on sales progress, market conditions, and emerging trends.
- Maintain a database of leads, prospects, and clients for future sales activities.
- Work closely with marketing, design, technical and merchandise teams to ensure a seamless customer experience and optimise business opportunities.
- Direct the development of proposals, presentations and seasonal collections.
- Negotiate contracts, terms, and pricing with clients.
- Finalise agreements and ensure proper execution.
- Present an appropriate professional image in representing the Company both on & off site.
- Undertake any other duties as may reasonably be required commensurate with the post.
- Uphold all Company procedures.
- Uphold values of discretion and loyalty to the Company.
Business Development Manager- The Person:
- Proven experience in business development, sales or a similar role in the retail industry
- Strong track record or successfully acquiring new clients and generating revenue growth.
- Experience with contract negotiation, closing sales, and managing client relationships.
- Well organised with excellent communication and customer care skills for dealing effectively at all levels both internally & externally.
- Strong communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
- Analytical & proactive approach to all processes within the business.
- Excellent problem-solving and strategic thinking abilities.
- IT literate with focus on Excel
- Highly motivated, goal-oriented, and self-driven.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to multitask.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Flexible and adaptable to changing market conditions.
