Description

We are recruiting for an apparel Designer with a passion to work with highly specialist, technical clothing and kit – and can you relocate?

My client is a specialist in the manufacture of Military & Law enforcement apparel and accessories.

As a Designer you will be meticulous with detail, working with protection in mind and where innovation is key. 

You will be based from a modern office, part of a development team with access to inhouse sampling/production unit and can see your designs materialise.  The environment is fast paced and challenging, the team are working on multiple projects involving a lot of development work, patents, fabrications and 3D printing.

Designer (Tactical Clothing) – The Job Outline

  • To design market focussed multi-product outerwear, accessories and kit.
  • Research the market, searching for innovative, best in class solutions for apparel and kit.
  • Design and manage key design processes including range build, sample development, attend development meetings, compile technical packs/BOMS
  • Liaise with product development, sales and marketing teams
  • Source and develop new fabrications, qualities, features and benefits – building relationships with suppliers and manufacturers.
  • Participate in collaborative projects with Universities to scientifically engineer and redevelop designs
  • To work on special collaboration projects for clothing and kit
  • Develop branding and graphics
  • Present /attend customer meetings and Trade Shows.

Designer (Tactical Clothing) – Core Skills & Requirements

  • Degree educated, with 2-5 years within technical performance clothing, outerwear or sportswear design.
  • Proficient in Illustrator and Photoshop. CLO 3D a benefit, but not essential.
  • Clear understanding of how to build a full technical pack, including Bill of Materials.
  • An understanding of garment construction for technical apparel/outerwear.
  • A good fabric knowledge, woven and knitted, with the ability to develop/source new fabrics.
  • Print and graphic design knowledge would be beneficial.
  • Must be able to communicate ideas and present, internally and externally to customers.
  • A team player.
  • Good project management skills.
  • Ability to travel within the role.
