Are you a footwear designer looking for their next challenge?
I am partnering with a well-known footwear brand who is looking to strengthen its Design team in their Central London offices.
You will be covering outdoor/performance products and play an integral part in design and trend research across both shape and materials. If you have experience within this area, then this would be advantageous, but it isn’t a dealbreaker.
Assistant Footwear Designer (Outdoor/ Performance)- The Role
- Responsible for assisting in the design and development of trend and market-driven footwear collections each season.
- Researching trends, colours, materials, trims with a strong sense of the footwear market.
- Producing initial sketches, both hand-drawn and digital, of footwear concepts.
- Contributing with innovative and original designs to the collection.
- Providing detailed technical drawings and specifications for prototype development.
- Weekly updates with the development team and/or factories on current projects.
- Reviewing prototypes, amendments, fittings.
- Researching into innovative and sustainable materials, footwear constructions, production methods.
- Competitor shopping trips, analysing the footwear and fashion market to drive design inspiration for upcoming collections.
- Working closely with senior designers, development team and other product categories to align brand design strategy.
- Assisting senior designers with range plans, collection overviews and colour CADs.
- Preparing collection presentations for design reviews and keeping them up-to-date with design changes throughout the season.
- Assisting in footwear catalogue photoshoots and collection launches.
Assistant Footwear Designer (Outdoor/ Performance)- The Person
- Bachelor's Degree in Fashion/ Footwear Design or equivalent work experience.
- Minimum 2 years of professional design experience.
- High proficiency in Adobe Illustrator & Photoshop and Microsoft Office.
- Have an eye for colours, materials, textures and trends.
- Collaborative and team-spirited approach.
- Have a flair for design with great creativity and imagination.
- Must be able to build all tech packs and pass specs in a detailed, organized and clear manner for factory proto-sample-making.
- Understanding of material viability and footwear construction.
- Paying attention to detail while working in a fast-paced environment.
- Design ability to promote the brand heritage and aesthetic.
- Strong time management and communication skills.
- Strong proactive work ethic.
