Description

My client is an established supplier to the UK High Street who is going from strength to strength so it’s a great time to join. We are looking for True Knitwear Design experience, and someone who is hands on, innovative and trend led -with an excellent technical knowledge of knit and yarns. Also essentially an understanding /experience and design handwriting of the UK retail market ideally across Ladies, Men’s and Childrens Knitwear. This position is to be based full time in Leicestershire working within a busy design studio and fantastic onsite sample facilities.

Knitwear Designer  – The Role

  • Develop trend and mood boards, including shape, colours and yarns.
  • Designing trend led yet commercial ranges across Ladies, Men's and girls Fashion Knitwear.
  • Sourcing new yarns and trims in-line with trend at the start and throughout the season.
  • Presenting trend and ranges to buyers and actioning any design requests.
  • Produce detailed tech packs and specs for accurate first-time samples.
  • Working closely with Knit technicians, pattern cutter / make-up and technicial teams. 
  • Monitoring range and customer sampling through from start to finish.
  • Building strong relationships with clients, developing, growing and managing your accounts.
  • Liaise with overseas teams
  • Analyse catwalks and competitors, report and spot missed opportunities 

Knitwear Designer– The Person

  • 3 Years + Proven experience working as a knitwear designer , experience within Ladies and mens Knitwear would be preferable. 
  • Proven ability to work to tight deadlines and prioritise workloads.
  • Driven and passionate.
  • Confident presenting to clients at all levels.
  • Strong commercial awareness and being up to date with current trends.
  • Good understanding of garment construction to develop samples and ranges effectively.
  • Excellent Attention to detail.
  • Strong CAD skills and capable of producing tech packs and specifications that are easy for factories to understand.
  • Flexibility to travel
  • A team player
