This is a great opportunity for a talented multi product Apparel Designer. Working within a busy design team you will be responsible for creating and developing a range of garments to a specific brief for an evolving mix of existing and new customer projects.
Designer – Duties
- Maintain and develop in depth industry knowledge across all sectors.
- Understand technology advances to ensure our designs are leading edge and differentiate from competitors.
- Designing with Sustainability, Inclusion and Diversity key within all projects.
- Produce design presentation boards, including market research, trend and colour direction, using illustration or range plan formats with the use of illustrator and photoshop software.
- Research and compile trend and shop reports seasonally to maintain market leadership and to translate into commercial wearable designs.
- Arrange focus groups and site visits to gain an understanding of working environments and what is required for the new range.
- Follow up visits at wearer trial stage to gain feedback on ranges.
- Accompany Sales or Account Managers to present design work to potential and existing customers, supporting in presentations where required.
- Produce sample requests within the PLM system and develop concept garments collaborating with the Product Development teams to meet critical path deadlines.
- Initiate risk assessments and handovers to the product development teams.
- Initiate lab dips, handlooms and any fabric development requirements with the fabric development teams.
- Source and develop any specific bespoke trim or accessory.
- General maintenance of the design department such as filing, fabric and garment requests
Designer – Skills
- BA in Fashion, Clothing Technology or similar, with relevant design experience in womenswear or menswear.
- The ideal candidate will have designed multiproduct, woven, jersey, knit etc.
- Proficient in Illustrator & Photoshop
- Good knowledge of garment construction and cost parameters.
- PLM systems experience would be an advantage
- Good commercial awareness and ability to prioritise multiple deadlines
- Confident presentation and interpersonal skills, ability to liaise effectively with people at all levels, internal teams and externally
- Ability to work closely with internal teams with a great team spirit
