New Nottingham based opportunity for an experienced Fabric Technologist with a passion for lingerie to join this established intimates Brand.
Fabric Technologist - Main Responsibilities
- Work with the Design Team to source suitable fabrics for the Brand. Achieving colour approval within the time requirements of critical path and ensure raw materials are fit for purpose. Attend trade shows with design.
- Establish and maintain contact with suppliers, discussing newness, trends and aesthetics with design. Aid in the creation of Brand technical standard manual working alongside Design and Garment Tech.
- Check lab dip submissions for new developments, feeding back to the factory
- Risk assess new designs ensuring all raw materials are compliant and fit for purpose and discuss any issues / concerns with the team / factory / supplier. Attend weekly development meetings.
- Work with Design and Garment Technologists to establish selected raw materials are viable for their chosen end use. To ensure the BOM details are correct at time of sign off.
- Attend weekly critical path meetings. Feedback on completion of fabric technical tasks. Aid team as appropriate with any issues that arise.
- Manage test reports in line with Brand specifications. Ensure the factory are aware and compliant with brand technical guidelines.
- Verify garment fibre compositions are accurate and ensure the wider team have appropriate care label information.
- Technically approve any raw material change. Commercially approve / set standards internally.
- Help to resolve potential bulk components issues working with the factories/ Design/ Garment Technical team to resolve any issues.
- Work with the factories / design / garment technologists to establish and maintain the list of standard components.
- Assist and respond as required to Returns, liaising with the factory and the Garment Technical team as appropriate regarding issues that arise.
- May be required to advise other Brands belonging to the same group/ company
Fabric Technologist – Skills & Experience
- Fabric textile related qualification and experience.
- Knowledge of lingerie, intimates, sports or swimwear.
- Good team player who is conscientious, energetic and enthusiastic
- Effective communication skills both written and oral.
- Good working knowledge of Excel/ MS Office Suite.
- Have an ability to work to critical deadlines
- Accurate, methodical and organised with attention to detail.
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Ability to prioritise and multi-task
- Ability to travel overseas.
