Description

This is a rare East Midlands based opportunity recruiting for Raw Material Technical Manager from a fabric technical background.   Working for a global lingerie and swimwear group you will be responsible for managing Raw Materials from sourcing through to production. 

To lead a department of 6 direct reports and support teams within manufacturing sites across multiple office locations. To manage supplier relationships, and to initiate/implement procedures in line with strategic and sustainability goals & aspirations. 

Raw Material Technical Manager – The Job Outline

  • Sourcing, innovation, development and full performance assessment of new materials/routes, working in conjunction with design and external/internal supply chains.
  • Compliance of suppliers and materials in accordance with global legislative and customer requirements, maintaining and evolving technical, ethical and sustainability standards.
  • Maintain and evolve processes for inputting and storing electronic product/colour information within internal platforms, PLM (Product Life Management), own Portal, and ERP system.
  • Colour approval process from sales samples through to bulk production.
  • Assess future requirements considering greater use of technology to reduce lead time, labour & improve sustainability.
  • Declaration and maintenance of care label details in line with global legislation.
  • Support and develop manufacturing locations on technical & QC issues, intervening with suppliers as required.
  • Support sales and after sales customer service teams on RM related matters.
  • International travel to visit manufacturing /factories, mills, supply base and trade shows.

Raw Material Technical Manager – The Person Specification

  • The ideal applicant will currently be/or have been operating at Senior Fabric Technologist or Fabric Technical Manager. Minimum of 8-10 years’ experience within the Apparel Industry. Lingerie experience desired.
  • Excellent organisational skills. The ability to prioritise schedules and manage workload on several projects at any one time within a fast paced environment is essential.
  • Strong interpersonal, influencing and communication skills at all levels, ensuring that both internal and external contacts are handled in a professional manner at all times.
  • Good analytical skills in the interpretation and presentation of data.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Flexible approach.
  • A confident team leader, experience of managing others. Ability to lead, recruit and support a team.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and experience in PLM/ERP systems.
