NEW opportunity for an experienced Fabric Technologist (Raw Materials Technologist) to join an industry leading manufacturer of branded lingerie & swimwear. Reporting to the Head of Raw Materials, you will be working across a wide range of fibres, fabrics and products.
This is a fast paced and varied role working as part of a friendly and supportive team within a European Head Office environment. We are able to consider applicants looking for full time (30hrs per week) or reduced working hours (34hrs per week).
Job Description : Responsibilities
- Working alongside inhouse design team, sourcing and developing a range of product types including warp / weft fabrics, laces and embroideries and a vast range of bra & swimwear components.
- Completing ‘Risk Assessment’ and approving technical specifications of all new raw materials to ensure the product is fit for purpose and meets with stringent performance requirements.
- Driving raw materials development and projects through to completion.
- Working in conjunction with external and internal supply chains, assisting in trouble-shooting and problem-solving on raw material technical and QC issues.
- Maintaining ethical & legal standards in accordance with global legislation and contribute in driving the sustainability strategy.
- Supporting Sales and Customer Service Teams on raw material related matters.
- Maintaining and evolving processes for inputting electronic product/colour and care label information within our internal platforms; PLM (Product Lifecycle Management), portal, and ERP systems.
- Contributing to the colour approval process to ensure labdyes and 1st bulk are approved to meet the business critical path.
- Travel to visit suppliers, manufacturers and trade shows as and when required.
Job Description : Qualifying Criteria
- Prove experience within a similar Fabric Technologist/ Raw Materials Technologist role within the fashion/apparel or textile industry. Ideally with background including lingerie, swim, activewear or sportswear.
- Ability to demonstrate a good technical understanding of fabric processing across a range of product types.
- Confident in sourcing and developing raw materials and working directly with raw material suppliers across the globe.
- Excellent attention to detail and good organisational skills.
- The ability to manage workload on several projects at any one time within a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent team player, happy to ‘get involved’ with the ability to communicate well.
- Efficient in MS office (Word, Excel & Powerpoint).
