This unique ethical clothing factory based in a wildlife reserve in rural Africa is looking for a strong, technically minded factory/ production manager to take them forward with their continued growth. This is a unique opportunity to make a difference, alongside the clothing factory who are producing 350 units weekly, the business runs a community trust where they operate a sewing school as well as offering practical sustainable help and training to the community. With plans to start working on the second unit on the same site, doubling capacity within the year, this is a great time to get involved in a business which is going from strength to strength and really making a difference.


Production Manager - The Role

  • Receiving customer orders and calculating costs, lead times and capacity bookings
  • Negotiate trim, fabric and shipping costs and MOQ, managing the delivery and development of all components with suppliers
  • Manage the critical path, ensuring the sample development timeline is on schedule through to bulk order shipping
  • Manage the team and ensure all critical team members are aware of deadlines
  • Ensure maximum production flow, spotting areas for improvement and implementing changes
  • Work with the QC team to ensure quality standards are met
  • Report weekly to the CEO and Client to communicate progress
  • General troubleshooting and ensuring smooth running of all technical processes
  • Management of the whole team, promoting the business values, culture and ethos
  • Work with the HR team on employee development and progression

Production Manager - The Person 

  • Knowledge of Jersey and woven ladieswear production
  • Hands on knowledge of sewing machinery
  • Experience in a small capacity factory
  • Experience dealing with other cultures and managing teams
  • Ability to inspire and mentor local employees
  • Strong leadership skills can do attitude and honesty
  • Desire to make a difference in ethical and sustainable fashion
