Job Description

Recruiting Now! We are looking for an experienced Machinist’s to join a busy team on multi-product womens and menswear based in Long Eaton. There are two roles, one on the customisation team and the other on Alterations.

Responsible for the alteration and embellishment of finished garments in line with business demands, as well as the quality of any alterations or customisation. To brand generic stock in line with customer branding guidelines.

Heat Sealing of stock as and required by the business ensuring correct application in line with the application instructions relating to temperature and timings.

Embroidering stock as required ensuring the application is placed in the correct position and in the correct colours.

Customisation/Alterations Machinist- The Role

  • To use skills and experience on industrial sewing machines such as Lock-stitch, 3, 4 & 5 Thread Over-lock, Button and Button-hole machines amending stock garments & Blind Hem machine
  • Shortening of generic stock items, (altering long sleeve to short, trouser & skirt length alterations to a high standard).
  • Read and understand company size charts, details surrounding finished measurements etc.
  • To be aware of customer specific branding requirements by liaising with the Supervisor and adhering to the procedures and process’ already in place within the customization area.
  • Ability to follow the work schedule (planning document) ensuring any potential delays are notified immediately.
  • To ensure the Supervisor is fully aware of any problems encountered when amending stock garments (quality problems, fabric problems, make up problems) etc.
  • Ensure production targets are met and that all work produced meets or exceeds the department’s quality standards.
  • To work efficiently and effectively as part of a team.
  • To feel confident in offering suggestions surrounding continuous improvement or working smarter.

Customisation/Alterations Machinist- The Person

  • 2-3yrs experience as a machinist using industrial machines (Lock-stitch, Over-lock, Blind Hem) in the fashion industry.
  • Good time management skills
  • Have the ability to communicate effectively with people at all levels    
  • Work calmly under pressure      
  • Take responsibility for daily tasks
