Job Description


We are recruiting for a market leader in home furnishings.  Our client is both a manufacturer and a brand.  Supporting the Head of Procurement your role will be to ensure products are purchased from suppliers with best price, for on time delivery and are in the scope of technical standards and requirements for high street and premium customers.

Buyer – The Job opportunity

  • To ensure availability of raw materials to facilitate continuous production in factory
  • Obtain price quotations for new and existing product from suppliers worldwide
  • Assist the development of new products including artwork approval and packaging design
  • Source new suppliers and product as direct by Head of Procurement
  • Update and maintain price lists for all products
  • Progress Corporate and Social Responsibility and Traceability throughout the supply chain
  • Liaise with own European factory and additional suppliers within Europe and overseas as appropriate
  • Regular offsite supplier visits to ensure suppliers continued suitability based on capability and upholding our corporate ethics
  • Attend buying and forecasting meetings and agree ‘buys’ based on output from ERP system
  • Track shipments and maintain accurate records/computer systems to ensure all documents up to date
  • Provide data reports for management as required
  • To help coach and mentor the merchandising team and their continual development

Buyer – The Person Specification

  • Previous experience within a Buyer or similar purchasing role within fashion or textiles
  • Previous home textiles experience would be advantageous
  • Open to applicants from a merchandising background who have held sourcing/purchasing responsibility with strong critical path management
  • Experience of working with bills of material in a manufacturing environment and managing the critical path deadlines
  • Proven track record of managing supplier relationships
  • Confident communicator, (written and verbal)
  • Strong organisational and time management, ability to multi task and prioritise.
  • Highly proficient IT skills (advanced Excel).  Numerate and analytical. Previous experience of using an ERP system would be beneficial
  • Adaptable to change, and ability to work, as part of a team and under own initiative
  • Willingness to regularly travel to factories within Europe as required
  • Knowledge of developing CSR policies – would be very desirable
