Assistant Production Manager

This position will be responsible for Nightshift production as follows:

  • Management of the production process from loading to despatch, to meet the weekly-agreed production schedules and costs.
  • Manage overheads with financial budgets and achievement of raw material costs & budgets.
  • Plan and drive the recruitment; start dates of new employees and staff training
  • Liaise with planning to ensure that production planning is effective to meet companywide KPI’s
  • Liaise with technical team on product quality management, and for the installation of specifications, standards and inspection.
  • Ensure on-going day-to-day operator performance is reviewed to meet target efficiency levels.
  • Work with the production QC teams to achieve approved quality standards throughout the production process.
  • Develop a strategy to multi skill operators working on a multi-product line to support increased flexibility.
  • Liaise with engineering to ensure the effective management of plant and machinery requirements, plant costs, maintenance schedules and to monitor reaction to breakdowns.
  • Ensure a progressive policy of effective management of labour resources and the continuous improvement of working conditions.

Assistant Production Manager - The Candidate Requirements

  • A proven background (minimum of 5yrs) within a manufacturing/production environment
  • Previous fashion or textiles experience is highly desirable
  • Experience of managing a team is essential
  • Confident and assertive people management & communication skills
  • Highly motivated, able to prioritise and manage own workload and a proactive approach to tasks
  • A strong understanding of managing performance and value efficiency levels, KPI’s and quality standards.
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • A knowledge of Lean or similar, or work study principles would be advantageous
